Spring is shaping up to be a busy season for entrepreneurs and small business owners across Northwest Arkansas. Over the next several weeks, a series of workshops, founder spotlights, networking gatherings, and pitch competitions will bring together builders, creatives, and business leaders from across the region.

Whether you’re actively building a startup, running a small business, or simply curious about what’s happening in the local entrepreneurial ecosystem, these events offer an easy way to learn something new and meet people who are working on interesting things.

Here’s a look at what’s coming up.

March 19 | 6:00 PM

The Startup Stories series highlights founders from the region who are building innovative businesses and sharing the lessons they’ve learned along the way.

This edition features Robin Atkinson, founder of Upkept, a technology-driven clothing repair and alterations platform working to make garment care easier, more sustainable, and more accessible. Instead of replacing clothing, Upkept helps people extend the life of the pieces they already own.

These evenings are intentionally casual: a founder conversation, time to ask questions, and plenty of opportunity to meet other entrepreneurs in the room. It’s a chance to hear the real story behind building a company — the wins, the pivots, and the lessons learned along the way.

Sometimes the most valuable thing for an entrepreneur is simply meeting the right person.

This relaxed networking gathering celebrates Women’s History Month while bringing together founders, small business owners, and professionals from across the Northwest Arkansas community.

Expect a welcoming environment, good conversation, and an easy way to plug into the local entrepreneurial network. Events like these are designed to create connections that often turn into collaborations, partnerships, or new ideas down the road.

Legal questions are one of the biggest pain points for early-stage founders.

In this coffee chat workshop, local attorney Phil Pesek will walk through some of the essential legal tools every startup and small business should have in place. Topics include:

  • Key considerations when forming a company
  • Contracts every small business should understand
  • Important employment templates
  • Common legal mistakes startups make

After the presentation, attendees will have time for Q&A and brief one-on-one conversations. Coffee and donuts are included — which never hurts.

Good design isn’t just about aesthetics — it directly impacts how customers perceive your brand.

This workshop breaks down the fundamentals of graphic design and shows how entrepreneurs can apply them to everyday business needs like social media posts, presentations, flyers, and marketing materials.

Led by Collab Design Co., a Northwest Arkansas marketing agency focused on brand consistency and visual storytelling, the session aims to give business owners practical design tips they can use immediately.

Lunch is provided, and attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how strong visuals can support business growth.

Got a big idea?

This fast-paced pitch competition gives founders the chance to present their concept in front of a live audience and judges for a chance to move forward in the IdeaFame competition.

Pitch competitions like this are a staple of startup communities because they create a stage for new ideas while connecting founders with mentors, investors, and supporters.

Even if you’re not pitching, it’s a fun event to attend — you’ll hear new business ideas, meet founders at the earliest stages of building something, and experience the energy of a room full of entrepreneurs.

Kiva loans allow small business owners to raise capital through community crowdfunding, helping entrepreneurs access funding without traditional barriers.

The annual celebration brings together borrowers, supporters, and partners to recognize the impact these businesses are having across Northwest Arkansas.
