Startup Junkie, University of Arkansas to Host Student Pitch Contest

Are you a college student in Northwest Arkansas? Do you have a great idea for a new business or product? Could you use $1,000 to help turn that idea into a reality?

More than ever, universities are a launch pad for ideas, innovations and new ventures. To support student innovators and connect them to the wider entrepreneurial community, on Monday, Oct. 28, the Fayetteville-based entrepreneurship support organization Startup Junkie will sponsor an IdeaFame pitch contest on the University of Arkansas campus in collaboration with the UA Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation and University Housing. The event is free and open to the public.

For a chance to win $1,000, contestants will pitch their idea for a business, product, service or solution in the new Adohi Residence Hall on campus, in the indoor performance space outside of the Adohi Creative Community. The event begins at 5:30 p.m., and all students from Northwest Arkansas’ universities (University of Arkansas, John Brown University, and Northwest Arkansas Community College) are eligible to pitch.

The IdeaFame Live Contest, a 60-second elevator pitch contest held regularly across the state of Arkansas, promotes startups, new ideas and entrepreneurship. Prizes of $1,000 are awarded for both the Judge’s Choice and the People’s Choice. Official contest rules and registration (for students with an idea to pitch and audience members) can be found here.
