Joseph Daniels III to Speak at Coffee+E on July 30

The Startup Junkie Foundation will host Coffee+E on the Fayetteville square on the morning of Tuesday, July 30. The monthly networking event will be held below Jammin’ Java, who will supply the morning’s coffee. 

The speaker for the upcoming Coffee+E event will be Joseph W. Daniels, III, a professional speaker, engineer and community builder. Daniels recently earned his Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of Arkansas and is currently a structural design engineer. 

During his time at the University of Arkansas, Daniels serves two terms as president of the Black Graduate Student Association. As president, he hosted “Tapestry: Courageous Conversations about Race,” offering a platform for students, faculty/staff and community members to discuss racial and social justice issues.

Daniels has also assisted in the planning and coordination of the 2016 and 2017 Attracting Intelligent Minds Conference, a conference specifically aimed to recruit top African American students to the University of Arkansas’ graduate programs.  

In 2016, Daniels led a successful campaign to make Fayetteville’s Bikes, Blues and BBQ rally more inclusive. In 2015, he facilitated “Let There Be Light Community Conversation and Exhibition” sponsored by Compassion Fayetteville and Andrew Kilgore’s “Let There Be Light” 100 Black Men Portrait project.  Daniels has served in the Northwest Arkansas branch of the NAACP and on the Fayetteville Black History Month planning committee.  

 Daniels has recently given speeches at the 2019 U of A’s Towers of Old Main Awards, 2019 Graduate School Symposium at North Carolina A&T State University and 2018 National Association of Graduate-Professional Students National Conference. He recently presented at TEDx on “Engineering the Value of Time.” 

 At the upcoming Coffee+E event, Daniels will speak on inclusion and community building in early-stage businesses and startups. Coffee+E is a reoccurring morning networking event which gives entrepreneurs, creatives, inventors and innovators a time to establish relationships and engage in creative collisions.
