Navigating the Current Women’s Product Landscape

When it comes to being an entrepreneur, especially a woman entrepreneur, you will stand apart from others if you’re highly invested in the problem you are solving. More recently, there’s been a trend where people want to be identified by how successful their startups are instead of determining if their startups are offering a needed solution. Women entrepreneurs historically have been known to innately hone in on the problem because oftentimes their startups provide products or services geared strictly towards women.

Having a personal insight into the problem you’re offering a solution for is imperative to the success of your startup. When it comes to products designed for women, the majority of the market has been monopolized by large global brands. However, younger generations are caring less and less about brand popularity and more about using brands they trust. They’re looking for a provocative message that is going to make them want to support smaller women-owned startups. 

Changes Needed in the Feminine Product Industry

Unfortunately, there are numerous industry-leading companies that cater to women who don’t actually have women on their board. This makes it difficult for female consumers to find products made by companies that fully understand their struggles. A great way to combat this is to support female entrepreneurs who are struggling with the same issues or who are actively trying to provide comprehensive solutions.

If there were more women present in the decision-making hierarchy of companies that offer feminine products, it might not be such a challenge for women to find effective products. The hard thing about women-owned startups is getting the word out about it when the market is dominated by household names. That’s why the goal of Prose Creative is to give women the words to better identify their needs.
