Quotes
“Most people think that they need a website, but you don’t, if you’re not going to rank it, what’s the point? — It’s words that sell. And those words need to get in front of people’s faces. If you spend 30 grand on a website and no one sees it, what’s the point?”
(4:13) – Kris Reid
“What we’re trying to do is build up our clients’ authorities to get them trusted by Google, so that Google will reward them with lots of traffic and customers.”
(5:05) – Kris Reid
“That’s what Google’s looking for, to build up your trust… If it’s some tiny little new site, that’s not worth anything. If it’s a big, strong authority site like the FBI or a university, that’s a big, strong credible backlink… that’s the secret of Google.”

The Cornerstone of the Internet, SEO, featuring Kris Reid of Ardor SEO
This never-before-aired bonus episode stars our hosts Jeff Amerine and Matthew Ward with special guest Kris Reid. Kris is the founder of Ardor SEO, and this episode is dedicated to all things search engine optimization. Not only is it a foundational piece of having a successful website, but it is actually what makes the profit happen. As Kris explains, when you actually want to sell with your business, you have to have users find your website. So learn alongside us as Kris makes the case that the age-old conundrum of sales could all be answered by understanding SEO.
Kris founded Ardor SEO to help build any company’s online reputation. The goal? Increased conversion. The method? Authority marking and dramatically increased business. Sounds easy enough, but getting into the weeds of it with Kirs shows a strategy of both excellence and simplicity.
Hailing from Brisbane, Australia, Kris studied software engineering at the Queensland University of Technology and now finds himself in Saigon, Vietnam. His background in software engineering initially led him to finance in London, England, where he recalled years that mirrored that of Wolf of Wall Street. That was, until the 2008 global financial crisis brought on unemployment and utter confusion for his direction in life, much like most of the world.
He returned to Australia and found himself working on a passion project of a computer game. He had zero experience in business, but building the game gave him an outlet for creativity and purpose again. The challenge arose when the game came to fruition, and he could not configure how to get an audience attracted to the website to play it. Like any computer geek, he researched and discovered the art of SEO.
“That’s when I started learning about SEO. Search Engine Optimization. I just discovered the secret of Google! Which are backlinks built on a bunch of backlinks to a website…I got a heap of traffic and I went,’ Wow, that’s a lot of fun!'”
(3:44) – Kris Reid
In layman’s terms, Kris and Ardor SEO work out who your customer is, who your ideal customer is, what it is they’re searching for, and then how to show Google that you’re a trusted authority. Whereas anyone could write anything on the internet, Ardor SEO gives you credibility. That of which will be essential since it is Google’s mission to try and decipher and filter through the piles of information out there. It all comes down to giving people credible and reliable search results.
Kris then let us in on the most common mistakes he sees clients make. The biggest: spending money on web design. In the end, it does not matter how much money is put into a landing page if there is 0 traffic there. It makes enough sense, but the numbers behind that mentality make it even more harrowing. After two billion pieces of content were analyzed, only 90.63% would get zero traffic. In Kris’ words,
“You can write content all day long, but Google is not going to give a crap about you.”
(7:00) – Kris Reid.
Step one, find out what your clients are searching for, then build the smallest website around that. Using an understanding of your audience alongside simplicity will be the golden ticket. Kris explains that customers are looking to solve a problem. Therefore your website should be centered around that answer. What answer does your company give to the problem your customer has? That foundation will then be the building block of backlinks, authority, and credibility. Thus, Google will be working in your favor.
When you have backlinks to foster credibility, you gain the trust of Google and then your client. Google comes in to see the relevance, who are you connected to, what do you provide, and how has it played out for past clients.
“That’s what Google’s looking for, to build up your trust… If it’s some tiny little new site, that’s not worth anything. If it’s a big, strong authority site like the FBI or a university, that’s a big, strong credible backlink… that’s the secret of Google.”
(8:24) – Kris Reid
Moving forward, Kris likes to see that his job is about generating clients, and the medium is SEO. Therefore, when the next thing comes along, he will be there, ready to provide for his clients on that new day. Knowing that any digital marketing outranks traditional marketing, he sees a bright future from its measurable success of conversion rates.
“That’s really what you are doing with SEO. You’re building up that trust with Google, with your users, and you’re building up your reputation, your online reputation, and that’s not going to change. It’s going to get more and more difficult and it’s going to get more and more valuable as well.”
(16:41) – Kris Reid
All in all, Kris ends with a deep desire to make the world a better place. SEO has given him an outlet to come alongside clients he trusts and believes in, in order to make their customers and Google trust and believe them as well. Having the ability to foster credibility, authority, and web traffic to businesses is the way to influence the market today, and SEO Ardor is finding purpose and success in it!
