Startup Junkie joins 20,000 organizations helping entrepreneurs transform ideas into action during Global Entrepreneurship Week 2022

FAYETTEVILLE, AR – November 10, 2022 – Startup Junkie will mark Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) on November 14-20 by hosting three events celebrating entrepreneurship in Arkansas: an SBAR Happy Hour celebrating STEM opportunities in Arkansas, a Startup Stories featuring local entrepreneur Brendan Howell, and an IdeaFame Pitch Competition with Canopy NWA’s entrepreneurship students.

Startup Junkie’s events happening during Global Entrepreneurship Week around Northwest Arkansas: 

  • November 14: The SBAR Happy Hour is a chance to connect and learn about the ever-expanding science and technology ecosystem in Arkansas, with keynote speaker Amy Hopper, program manager of the Arkansas Research Alliance. The event will take place at the Arkansas Research & Technology Park from 5:30-7:30 pm. 

  • November 15: Startup Stories invites the Northwest Arkansas community to come together and hear from an inspiring entrepreneur about their journey through entrepreneurship. The event will be from 5:30-7:30 pm and will feature Brenden Howell, CEO and co-founder of Loloft, at their new coworking and microwarehouse opening in Rogers later this month. 

  • November 16: The IdeaFame Pitch Competition with Canopy NWA will take place at Fairlane Station in downtown Springdale from 5:30-7:00 pm, giving participants 60-seconds to pitch their idea for a business for a chance to win one of two $1,000 prizes. Canopy NWA’s Entrepreneurship program accepts any foreign-born person with a passion to start a business to participate in their classes. Anyone is welcome to attend or register to pitch their idea for a business. 

Each event is free and open to the public. 

GEW is an international movement, powered by the Global Entrepreneurship Network with support from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, dedicated to making it possible for anyone, anywhere to start and scale a company. 

Each November, GEW celebrates and empowers millions of entrepreneurs in every country and community around the world. GEW is hosted in Northwest Arkansas by Startup Junkie.

“We’ve seen a huge increase in the number of people interested in entrepreneurship in Northwest Arkansas,” said Victoria Dickerson, Marketing and Events Coordinator for Startup Junkie. “I believe they get inspiration and encouragement from others at these events who have pursued their dream, and it spurs them into action.”  

Dozens of people will participate in Northwest Arkansas’ GEW events, joining the more than 10 million people and 20,000 organizations participating in thousands of activities, competitions and events globally.

2022 marks 15 years of GEW celebrations and activities. The campaign launched in 2008 with 77 countries participating. This year, activities will take place in 200 countries.
